There were only two people who scored more than 30 on Sunday but I am told it was extremely windy. It is good I think to shoot sometimes in the rain or the wind, more of a challenge against the elements than the set up of the clays.
The next shoot will be the Spring Competition, (15 TH March) and prizes will be awarded on the following shoot, bottles and cartridges. I hope the weather will be kind and the sun comes out for you all.
I have applied for the Section 11/6 from the Police for the Bronte Gathering. The name of the event has changed and the word “Vintage” left out. It is more of a general event now with lots of stalls, a fair for the children, dog racing for anyone to enter their pet, sometimes ferret racing and sometimes demonstrations of birds of prey. The main event changes each year. This year the Stannage Stunt Show will entertain the crowds. I hope you all keep the 9 th and 10 th May clear to come and help with our “have a go” shoot. We need quite a few people to come as they are mostly non-shooters who need showing how to shoot, folks to mark their score card, look after guns and cartridges etc.
I hope our black powder shooters come along again as spectators love to watch this as well as shooters having a go.
We did well last year and managed to raise £2000 to send to our local Sue Ryder Hospice, Manorlands in Oxenhope. It is good publicity for our shoot showing that we are a responsible group. The police patrolling the event last year came for a look at us and thought we did it every weekend as our members ran it so efficiently. Well done everyone.
I hope to get back to the shoot soon and see you all.
