MANORLANDS SHOOT THIS SUNDAY
We have a shoot on our own ground each year to give members a chance to help raise some money for Manorlands. We raised £1500 at the Bronte Gathering but every penny counts with them. Manorlands has been helping people for many years and I have never once heard anyone complain about them, only how wonderful it is to have such a place and how caring they are. So, we have a shoot this Sunday, 31st May, please join us! It is a competition so there will be prizes for the first t

How did it go at the Bronte Gathering?
We had a busy weekend again this year. 275 people shot, normally with people paying £10 for 10 shots but with some young ones doing 5 shots for a fiver but then pestering Mum and Dad for more cash and coming back for a second go. Everyone was kept busy and thank you all who helped the event go so well. Some of you were there for the first time but hope you are coming again to help next year, we need plenty of people and only just had enough. It looked absolutely crammed with

Another day of high scores; is everyone improving their shooting or is it the better weather and us not wearing as many thick jumpers like we do in the winter time? Good to see one of our girl juniors scoring well again and who is also a cricketer. A very sporty young lady. The gossip on the day of course was the Bronte Gathering, who could come and help, and everyone who can is very welcome. It takes quite a few of us as most of the shooters have never even held a gun never

You cannot beat Flying Black 9 for variation! We have different “birds” on each stand, on Sunday we had wind, we had rain, we had snow, we had hail and then we had wonderful sun. We also had a lot of laughing and we had one small boy with the biggest smile after being out in all the wind and weather, he hit his first clay. With 10 shots in a .410 and to do it in all that adversity was great and brave. He is keen to come again and have another try. It is getting nearer to the

1st March 2026.
There were only two people who scored more than 30 on Sunday but I am told it was extremely windy. It is good I think to shoot sometimes in the rain or the wind, more of a challenge against the elements than the set up of the clays. The next shoot will be the Spring Competition, (15 TH March) and prizes will be awarded on the following shoot, bottles and cartridges. I hope the weather will be kind and the sun comes out for you all. I have applied for the Section 11/6 from th

I wish I had been there on Sunday, there were so many good scores it must have been fairly easy shooting, which is always good news for me. The weather of course was good, no fog so that would be a bonus and cheer everyone up. We had the Police visit on Monday morning to check that the club is run properly and that I keep you all safe as well as keeping all the paperwork up to date, for our exemption certificate, which allows non certificate holders to shoot. Some shooters do

Unfortunately I was unwell and so could not be there on Sunday but I knew it was raining as I had to dry all the score cards on the top of my radiator. We got some more members and some visitors. Some from Holmfirth where my husband and I used to go to shoot, closed now unfortunately. We had a lot of fun and made lots of good friends there. There were two skeet layouts and a DTL and sometimes there was a set up for a sporting shoot. Down in the valley a pool shoot which was v

A sunny but very cold day. There was a good turn out of shooters and we not only had plenty of renewals of membership, but also some new members as well. Welcome to those people. I have never had to defrost a biro before but none of the biros in the cabin would work and I had to hold one near the cooker and rub it in between my hands. My fingers were really cold as well when handing out score cards and change at the till. I kept getting told it was warmer outside in the lovel

21st December 2025
This was the last shoot of the year and we had a good day. The weather was foggy but some good scores were put in. It was a free shoot for members as our Christmas present to you, some members had forgotten about that perk so were pleased. The end of year medals and trophies were handed out and there were some surprises there. Left to right: Garry, veteran winner, Paul, 3rd in Class A, Sam, 1st in Class C, Darren, 1st in Class B Photos are in the Competition Winners section

2026 Membership renewal
Membership for 2026 can be renewed on the 21st December, or in the New Year. You could ask for that as your Christmas Present from family. There are small trophies and medals to be handed out to the winners of the three classes on the 21st, so come and find out if you have won something. You will be able to show it off to visitors over the Christmas period or hang your medal on the Christmas tree. Marjorie

16th November 2025
16th November 2025. I was so glad that so many of the members and visitors to the club turned out on such a cold day to give our traditional two-shot salute to a member, Colin Wheater, who died very suddenly, Colin was only in his mid sixties. The noise from so many was tremendous, thank you everyone. Thank you to the member who took this photo, and printed ones will be given to Colin’s family. It was so busy I never got outside to shoot, and there was lots of discussion when

A bit cold but then it is November. Quite a few people commented on how good the shooting layout was, with a lot of variety and both easy and harder stands. Some sad news, Colin Wheater has passed away. He will be laid to rest at Oakworth Crematorium oon Wenesday the 12th November at 1 p.m. The service will be followed by a few drinks at the Conservative Club in Cullingworth. We had a group of people who were celebrating a Birthday in their family. They had a very small gir

What a good day we had on Sunday for the Battle of Trafalgar competition shoot! We had a really good turnout of folks and were brought some lovely raffle prizes. The raffle draw was at 11.30 and we were just in time finishing folding the ticket stubs. There are three prizes unclaimed and the numbers are 166, 296 and 185. We raised £95 for Manorlands. Well done and thank you everyone. The John Midgley Cup was presented to James, a very surprised but thrilled member whose aver
