I expected a quiet day as it was Father’s Day but the opposite came along. We were busy with both visitors and members and we had some welcome youngsters as well.
One person who had not been before came along after having had his membership fee paid by his daughter for Father’s Day. He thought he did not know anyone but the person who was to take him round turned out to be an old school friend.
It was of course the Battle of Waterloo which is a competition for members but does not stop visitors shooting as usual. The English won and the top three scorers in the English Team will be given cartridges for prizes at the next shoot.
I had a party to go to at 2pm and because it was so busy at the shoot I didn’t get home till a quarter to two. Shower and change of clothes and off again at 2.15 so not so late and it was near where I live. I handed over the present and was then asked if I
wanted wine, Prosecco or another alcoholic drink. I said I would die for a cup of tea and was that possible. I had been so long without a drink of any kind it did not seem a good idea to drink anything else. After we gave up laughing a big mug of tea was brought for me. Was I glad to see it. The hall was packed and a great fuss made of the lady, glad I made it.
I hope no one is suffering too much with this hot weather and that you are only walking dogs very early in the morning or late at night when pavements are cooler. Pads can get very sore and then dogs will lick them and soften them and then they get worse.
Does anyone use a 17HMR rifle and need a handy pull through for quick cleans? I have two I no longer need and have never used. I also have some 20 bore snap caps.
I don’t want snap caps on the ground, I know of one dreadful accident where a man shot his toes. He was chatting to his pal and didn’t realise it was a cartridge not a snap cap.
A small donation in the Sue Ryder box and you can have these items. I have lots of stuff to get rid of so if you are short of something tell me and I will see if I have a spare. I am not giving up shooting but not renewing my Certificates.
See you all next shoot.
