Another good shoot. Some hard birds a few said but they had enjoyed the challenge. We had another five new faces so had the practice stand out so they could have some instruction and plenty of time. One girl hit the very first clay out of the trap and did quite well for her first go at shooting.

The next shoot is our annual Trafalgar Day Competition. Visitors are welcome as usual but the actual comp is for members. Everyone, both visitors and members, shoot round as usual with their friends but members scores are recorded. Members are assigned a ship, written on their score card, with three as a crew, their scores added together and an average then recorded. The team with the highest average is the winning team. You cannot choose your ship so the best shooters cannot get together to win. Luck of the draw for everyone.

We will also be presenting the John Midgley Cup for the person with the highest increase in their average. This is done over two years and you have to shoot more than 10 times during each of those two years. John of course was the one to rescue us when we had to leave Manywells because of the new houses being built. He immediately gave us the use of his land to shoot over even though he was not a clay shooter. When he died his son donated a cup in John's name.

I hope to see lots of you there to compete and see the cup presented.

Marjorie

Another day of high scores; is everyone improving their shooting or is it the better weather and us not wearing as many thick jumpers like we do in the winter time? Good to see one of our girl juniors
