3rd March 2024.

Sunday was a really good day, no wind or rain and some sunshine for a change.  There were quite a few good scores put in.  We had some new faces who had not shot before and they seemed to be enjoying it.  It was only when I came to update my records yesterday that  I realised it was the Birthday of one of them.  The group said they had a meal out booked so I hope they had a happy day.  Our juniors all shot well and one “new face” is going to bring his son next time to have a go.  I love seeing young ones coming along and keeping the sport alive.  They are well supervised of course and helped when they need it.

I spoke to the Firearms Officer yesterday to ask about him about taking Certificates in when he visits making it difficult to buy cartridges.  The turn round for Certificates in the West Yorkshire area has improved greatly so he advises that when you get an appointment for a visit at renewal time for your Certificate, rush out and buy cartridges if you are going to need them soon but it will not be long before you get the new Certificate.   He was extremely helpful and full of advice and I feel he will do his best for our members.    The members who have renewed recently tell me hold ups are usually caused  by Doctors taking some weeks to do their part making the process of applying for renewals a long period.  Visits from the firearms officers only come after all the paperwork has been submitted. The best thing is to apply in really good time otherwise you may have to lodge your guns with someone and possibly pay for storage.   Please feel free to call or email me if you have a problem and I will do my best to sort it out for you.
