The Bronte Vintage Gathering

Thank you to everyone who helped at the Bronte Vintage Gathering at the weekend, some of whom donated cartridges. Everyone worked really hard to make it not just a fund raiser for Manorlands but also to show what shooting is like at our club and to demonstrate that we are safe, well-organised and well- run.
We had 286 shooters. Some of the youngsters who shot did really well and one very, very small girl shot 2 out of four and then her mother shot the rest as four was enough for her.
The weather was really hot and I got sun screen slapped on me by one of the club members. Thank you for that.
On the Saturday we had a very strange happening. Looking across the side of the field
we saw a massive cloud of dust come rolling in so the wall could not be seen. It was followed by a twirling high wind which banged the very heavy trailer doors, blew off my hat even though I was inside and blew over one of our shooting stands, and then swept past us and all was calm again. Apparently it did not affect the rest of the show so no stalls affected or anything. I have never seen anything like that before other than on film. and not in this country.
Monster trucks were not as noisy as expected and they broke down a couple of times and it took them some time to repair them. The show had lots more attractions and stalls and thing going on than previously and so I hope it will continue next year.
We had a visit from three policemen but they only wanted to see what we were doing, they didn’t want to check our insurance and Section 11/6 police certificate. They thought we were well organised and asked if we travelled round doing shows. I told them this is the only one we do but we are organised well at our usual shoot. Think we scored some brownie points there.
I think we were all happy that the weekend had gone so well, a lot of hard work put in by members but well worthwhile. Thank you everyone.
