4th January 2026.

A sunny but very cold day. There was a good turn out of shooters and we not only had plenty of renewals of membership, but also some new members as well. Welcome to those people.

I have never had to defrost a biro before but none of the biros in the cabin would work and I had to hold one near the cooker and rub it in between my hands. My fingers were really cold as well when handing out score cards and change at the till. I kept getting told it was warmer outside in the lovely sunshine.

One of the traps must also have been feeling the cold as it caused a bit of trouble but it

will be looked at before the next shoot. Several folks said they had enjoyed the rabbit trap, the ground being so hard made it leap quite well. We had wondered if it would break the clays but it didn’t.

The little girl who came and had a few shots with Dad’s .410 enjoyed that. We hope to see her again.

The small green cards with shoot dates on are wrong from July onwards. My fault. I will have some in a different colour by next shoot so you can get a new one. Sorry about that.

I have had some key rings given to sell for £2 each. They are made from wood in the shape of a cartridge with the brass from a used cartridge. They look well made and have a strong split ring on. I will bring them to the next shoot.

Thank you to the folks who opened and closed the wooden gate when I went home feeling ill. The frozen ground was not making that easy. Think the gate needs a bit of TLC from the farmer.

I wish I had been there on Sunday, there were so many good scores it must have been fairly easy shooting, which is always good news for me. The weather of course was good, no fog so that would be a bo

Unfortunately I was unwell and so could not be there on Sunday but I knew it was raining as I had to dry all the score cards on the top of my radiator. We got some more members and some visitors. Some
